PARPARIA, |

|
Hi,
my name is Stavro. Welcome to my site. My goal is to write a book on Parparia.
Please take the time to read the essay and comment to me at my email LEONTARI@msn.com or at the Parparia.com
website.
I
have added some more photos on the images part of the site. I plan to start
adding old photos at the end of the Geneology section. If anyone has photos of
people from the Geneology section, please scan them and send them to me and I
will put them on. Also if you know dates of birth, please also include them.
Thanks.
Parparia
is a unique town with a unique history and ancient traditions. Every summer the
town saturates with the diaspora of Parparousi from all over the globe. It is a
pilgrimage in many ways similar to another pilgramage made by the Parparousi to
Agia Markella every year to commemorate where the Parparousi first landed over
1,000 years ago. Since Byzantine times, Parparia has held it's own through
Arab, Catalan, Turkish, Genoese and Venetian attacks. Walking through its
narrow streets and and seeing its old stone houses and views to the sea, will
put you in a time machine and transport you to another time. A time where
people were people and the world was free from fast pace media. Walk
through the fields and mountains sides, walk on the pebble ridden beaches,
smell the air, see the breathtaking sights and you will be transported back to
a time who's history has all but been forgotten. Visit the local
festivals (Panigiria) and hear the music that will awaken your soul and the
spirit of your ancestry from within.
